November 24 Update

I wanted to update you on a statement released by the Woods Hole Community Association about the status of the building at 3 Water Street, the Davis House, the current home of WCAI:

"The Woods Hole Community Association board formed an executive committee to review the conditions proposed by the Buyer to an assignment of the Buyer's interests in the Purchase and Sales Agreement to the Woods Hole Community Association."

This is encouraging!  It means serious conversations are happening that could result in the purchase of the Davis House by the community.

Here are other new updates:

  • Thanks to an outpouring of support, the Woods Hole Community Association has now developed the financial capacity to buy the building.

  • The Falmouth Board of Selectman has written a letter to WGBH encouraging them to keep WCAI at 3 Water Street.

  • The Woods Hole Community Association is dedicated to keeping WCAI in the building and is willing to offer WGBH five years rent free toward that end. These terms would be highly favorable to WGBH, rather than them being saddled with moving costs and rent in another venue.

  • However, there is concern that WGBH has been actively seeking new rental space for WCAI in various locations in the area

What can you do?

Encourage the WGBH Board to delay their rental search until all efforts to keep WCAI in their home at 3 Water Street have been exhausted. Please take a moment to email the WGBH Board, asking them to keep WCAI in its Woods Hole home at the Davis House -- our previous emails have had a significant effect.  The Community Association website has the email addresses.

Also: You can attend, in person, the Board meeting of WGBH.  It's open to the public.  It is on Wednesday, December 4th, at 3:30 PM.  You can address the board, or simply show up to support WCAI.  Here's info:

  • WGBH Board meetings are held in the Cahners Conference Room at WGBH, One Guest Street, Boston, MA. These are public meetings and WGBH asks that attendees call ahead within five days of the meeting to give notice for planning purposes: 617-300-3603. We are encouraging people who plan on going to call ASAP before the Thanksgiving holiday.

All your support has made a big difference so far and will be integral in the days ahead. Thanks so much!

Sincerely,

Tim Lineaweaver
